Discover the advantage of Fiberglass pools. San Juan pools offer many advantages that concrete and vinyl pools cannot. They are actually more permanent than the other two types and do not require the maintenance and remodeling that is necessary to keep concrete and vinyl pools looking great. Fiberglass is more resistant to stains than plaster finishes, and it never needs painting. It is also impervious to algae, 17 times stronger than concrete and quickly installed onsite. That’s just the beginning of the San Juan story.
Change your summer pool into an ice rink for the winter
Fiberglass as a new, superior building material was first introduced in the mid 1950s. Since then, fiberglass’durability, lasting beauty and ease of maintenance have made it the primary construction choice for boats, automobiles and dozens of other products—including swimming pools.

George Sullivan, founder of San Juan Products, saw the value of fiberglass for the building of swimming pools and in 1958 built the company’s first fiberglass swimming pool in Seattle, WA. Amazingly, that pool is still in use—still beautiful, still durable.

Homeowners everywhere are becoming more knowledgeable about the high quality of San Juan fiberglass pools.

Fiberglass is Impervious to Algae
The non-porous gel-coat surface of a San Juan pool greatly simplifies water maintenance procedures. The gelcoat is an NPG-Isophthalic resin that is chemically inert (so it will not affect the chemical balance of the pool water) and is extremely resistant to acids and oxidizers.

Algae cannot penetrate the gelcoatfinish, which is the beauty of a fiberglass pool. In concrete pools, algae can grow right through thewalls of the pool, destroying the plaster finish and causing damage tothe pool.
More Flexible and 17 Times stronger then concrete pools
A San Juan fiberglass pool can flex substantially without breaking and is 17 times stronger than a concrete pool. Concrete is rigid and inflexible so minor ground movements can cause it to crack. San Juan fiberglass pools have a tensile strength of 28,346 pounds per square inch. This means that a pressure of 28,346 pounds is required to fracture even one square inch of a San Juan pool. This toughness allows San Juan pools to expand and contract with expansive soils, earthquakes and freezing temperatures without damage.

Because of their flexibility and strength, some San Juan  fiberglass pools can be installed above ground. San Juan pools have been installed on the rooftops of apartment buildings and hotels across the country. Recently, two San Juan Manatee model swimming pools were installed on the 42nd and 43rd floors of the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas, NV.
Energy Savings on Electricity over 30%
San Juan fiberglass pools do not leach any material into the water, (i.e., alkaloids and other materials from concrete and plaster finishes), making long periods of filtration unnecessary. A fiberglass pool can reduce your electric costs by over 30%
